What does “listening to your body” actually mean—and how do you know if you’re doing it?

When I wasn’t sure whether the self-care advice I was following was actually helping, I realised I needed a different approach.

Not a different approach to self-care, but a different way of understanding what happened after I followed the advice.

Learning to listen to my body hasn’t given me all the answers. But it has helped me decide what to try next when progress has felt messy, slow or confusing.

Listening to your body doesn’t replace health advice – it helps you make sense of your body’s responses when you don’t see the improvements you expected.

Listening to your body might sound a bit romantic or New Agey – but it’s really a practical skill. A skill anyone can learn.

In fact most of us already listen to our body.

Are you listening?
