The Practice

Most healthy advice tells you what to try. Make Self-Care Simple helps with the part that comes next – making sense of how your own body responds.

When you don’t see the improvements you expected, your body’s response can give you useful information about what to do next.

The Make Self-Care Simple Method (MSS) helps you look at what you hoped would improve, how your body actually responded and what else was happening at the time – then use what you’ve learned to decide whether to continue, adapt or let go.

You can use the MSS Method once to help make sense of an unclear result.

But it was designed to become a skill you can keep using throughout your life.

Because whenever you try advice, your body’s response gives you new information about how that advice is working for you, in your life, at that time.

And as your body, your life and your needs change, that feedback gives you something practical to work with.

The Practice is where you get better at noticing and using that feedback in ordinary life.

Why make it a practice?

Because your body doesn’t experience self-care in isolation.

You take it with you through work, stress, changing seasons, busy weeks and quieter ones — and what happens in the rest of your life can change how your body responds to the self-care you’re already doing.

So you keep noticing.

Each time you use the Method, you’re not only deciding what to do next — you’re discovering more about how your body responds and what it might need.

Over time, you begin to recognise your own patterns, remember what has helped before and have more experience to draw on when things change.

That’s why it’s a practice. Your life keeps changing, your body keeps responding, and you keep learning.

Why practise together?

Although we can share the same Method, what we discover will be individual.

Different bodies. Different lives. Different circumstances. Different responses.

Someone else’s experience isn’t an instruction for what you should do. But it might help you notice something you hadn’t considered in your own.

We can learn from one another without needing to become like one another.

That’s why I’m building The Practice as a quieter kind of community — somewhere you can practise alongside others without needing to publicly share the personal details of your health.
