If you’ve landed here wondering who I am, what I do, or whether this space is right for you — welcome. This page is a short introduction to my work, and why Make Self-Care Simple exists.
A Warm Welcome
Hi, I’m Jo Oliver — retired herbalist, former intuitive practitioner, and someone who understands what it’s like to try everything and still feel stuck.
For over 20 years, I worked with women who were thoughtful, proactive, and deeply invested in their health — yet often confused or discouraged by their body’s responses
Many came to me after trying everything:
- supplements
- diets
- routines
- protocols
- expert advice
…and still not experiencing the results they hoped for.
The insight that changed everything

Over time, I noticed a pattern that quietly reshaped my work.
Even with good advice and quality remedies, progress often stalled unless women were supported with simple, personalised self-care practices — and, crucially, helped to notice how their body was responding.
The problem usually wasn’t motivation or effort.
It was this:
Most women didn’t know how to recognise early feedback from their body — so they didn’t know whether to continue, adjust, or stop.
Without that clarity:
- some gave up too soon
- others pushed on when their body was asking for something different
- many lost trust in themselves
The personalised self-care “homework” I gave clients back then — small, everyday practices designed to reveal feedback — is the same approach that has evolved into the self-care challenges you’ll find on this blog today.
When it became personal

Years later, a long-Covid episode changed my own body completely.
Foods, routines, and remedies I once relied on became unpredictable. My body felt sensitive, reactive, and unfamiliar.
In that space, I realised something essential:
If external advice couldn’t guide me, I would need to learn how to listen to my body more carefully than ever before.
So I began again — gently and slowly.
Not with strict plans or protocols, but with small, doable self-care experiments that allowed my body to respond in its own time.
Some things helped.
Some didn’t.
Every response taught me something.
Over time, patterns emerged — practices my body consistently responded to. This became my Menu of Self-Care: a living, evolving collection of what I know genuinely supports me.
This is the same process I now share here.
Why Make Self-Care Simple exists
Because so many women are already trying — yet quietly wondering why nothing seems to stick.
Because sensitive or unresponsive bodies don’t thrive on rigid plans.
Because healing isn’t linear and no one teaches us how to stay with the process when results are subtle or slow.
Make Self-Care Simple exists to help you:
- notice feedback more clearly
- adapt instead of abandon
- rebuild trust in your body
- and approach self-care with curiosity rather than pressure
